LOADS 8-11 Caught up at last!

I finished this first layout last night but it was too dark to take a photo. I've wanted to scrap this thing for a long time but didn't know just how to do it until I saw this orange paper with the one stray blue bird. Lizzy feels like that solitary bird (don't we all!) and has to catch up to herself once in a while. I gathered up all these pictures of her being silly just to remind her that it is perfectly wonderful to just be yourself. Now I just got two new kits and already have them mixed up in my head. But I think this paper came from the Jenni Bowlin. Metal from SU, envie and flowers from OSU group buy. I think the letters came from my stash.


I kind of lost my mojo Friday even though I really wanted to scrap. So I resorted to thievery on these next three layouts. These are practically straight lifts from the Scarlet Lime gallery. Thanks girls!

I used one panorama photo instead of a series of photos here, no journaling needed. Love the colors of these two kits.


I had about decided not to scrap these next photos. They were so disjointed. Then I saw them all in one pile and realized how they could fit on one layout. I hope to get some kind of story about why Lizzy took a picture of a burned out van and a wrecked taxi, so I left some journaling space. I'm going to have to buy another set of thickers because I am not happy about the patched 'e' on this.


This photo in the next layout is nothing without the journaling and is just a fun memory for Lizzy. I made the butterfly with my new SU punch, sanded the coodinations CS and tied embroidery floss into a body and antennae. When looking for letters I found this rub-on girl and like it for the theme. I came across this zipper while rummaging through my orange drawer. Anyone still have theirs? Finally I used it!!!

LOAD 3

Layout number three! I went to my friend Marlene's blog and lifted this design from an Easter page she had done. When I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for this series of pictures of Allen golfing in the back yard. I think he looks four in these pictures but his mom says he is only three. So there you go. Mom is always right. That makes this the summer of 2005. This layout also qualifies for the October journaling challenge at OSU where we are to use punctuation in our title. Thanks for looking! LOAD 15-17

I remembered I had this fun paper from SG and, luckily, found it without much digging. I singed the edges of the CB circles under the flowers to match the flaming ribbon. Added hinges from my metals stash for the door and a lock that came from the September Scarlet Lime kit. Buttons, CB, flowers, ribbon and card from same kit. Bally fiber and black trim from stash.


This next one is pretty plain, but I like it. Lizzy and her friends had a lot of fun with this little skeleton they named, Jorge. He had his own adventures - I highlighted on the journaling tag - the rest is on the back of the LO.


I love this SU paper but it's hard to make it look different. So many of the pieces are similar. I think this is the last of my flocked CS. I sewed a piece of fiber around and around to make the flower center (still have a bunch of those yellow flowers left, you'll see them again). Clear stickers, journaling tag from Peachy Cheap (or Flowers to Flourishes). Ribbon and thickers from stash. After looking at my friend Jen's blog, I think I might have to add some stickles or glitter to some of these LOs!

LOAD 5-9

More layouts for the LOAD challenge. This first one is just a sneak. I did this today for the September scraplift so I can't reveal the entire layout just yet.


I am loving this "Smile" layout. I did this with Aleta's September ad challenge in mind. I had a bunch of pictures of Lizzy that I wasn't sure what to do with. I ended up just using a square punch and capturing her beautiful smile in random shots. Then I used a variety of Thickers, so this will also qualify for the September journaling challenge at OSU. This is almost the last of the new Basic Gray paper I bought last week.


I have had the white patterned paper on this next layout for quite a while. This paper was so beautiful but I couldn't figure out how to use it without covering up the design because the pattern was large and far apart. I am really happy with this page design and the way it enhances the beauty in these outdoor pictures. Once I figured out how to use this paper, the rest was very simple and it needed very little embellishing.


Lizzy sent this orange card home and then the next batch of pictures she sent had this photo. I had no idea what this was all about. I finally learned that this sign is used in some of the New York City buses. She found one lying on the sidewalk one day with no bus in sight so she took it home for a souvenir. The card is in a pocket I made from a small page protector.


This layout is for the September sketch challenge at OSU. The papers and embellies are from the latest Jenni Bowlin kit. I sewed the little red and white flowers on with my sewing machine.

Where I'm From

Wendrie at OSU posted a journaling challenge. This was a very introspective look at my life and how I came to be the person I am today. Very interesting, somehow refreshing and altogether a pleasant activity. Made me feel mellow and nostalgic. I recommend it. I wanted to keep my layout simple and focus on the journaling. The photos are merely copies so no worries about writing on vintage prints.


I tucked in a piece of vintage newsprint that is very unobtrusive yet adds that certain something. SU felt flowers, blue ribbon and half beads from the pretties kit. Lace from stash, black trim from SG kit. Click on the photo to read the journaling. Let me know what you think.
