LOAD 18-19

More layouts for Betsie's LOAD challenge. I've been scrapping so many of Lizzy's pictures I decided it was time to dig into my backlog for a while. This picture is almost 22 years old. The baby is Lizzy. About time to get it in the album! Everything here is from my stash.


I used a fun Simply Scrappin' kit from SU for this next layout. I loved this picture of Lizzy's roommates walking down the street in their sunglasses. I don't know why, but it made me think of that Sister Sledge song, "We Are Family." So I put the lyrics on the second page and surrounded it with pictures of Lizzy's roommates and companions. I have room to add more as I get them. It will be nine months before she comes home. The only thing I added that was not in the kit are the two SU corduroy buttons and the photo mat - also SU patterned paper.

LOAD 15-17

I remembered I had this fun paper from SG and, luckily, found it without much digging. I singed the edges of the CB circles under the flowers to match the flaming ribbon. Added hinges from my metals stash for the door and a lock that came from the September Scarlet Lime kit. Buttons, CB, flowers, ribbon and card from same kit. Bally fiber and black trim from stash.


This next one is pretty plain, but I like it. Lizzy and her friends had a lot of fun with this little skeleton they named, Jorge. He had his own adventures - I highlighted on the journaling tag - the rest is on the back of the LO.


I love this SU paper but it's hard to make it look different. So many of the pieces are similar. I think this is the last of my flocked CS. I sewed a piece of fiber around and around to make the flower center (still have a bunch of those yellow flowers left, you'll see them again). Clear stickers, journaling tag from Peachy Cheap (or Flowers to Flourishes). Ribbon and thickers from stash. After looking at my friend Jen's blog, I think I might have to add some stickles or glitter to some of these LOs!

LOAD 10-12

More LOAD pages. The first one is Lizzy on two different trips on the train. This girl loves the train - she has always hated to drive. I think these papers are from a Studio Calico kit. Lots of my older kits are getting quite jumbled and it's hard to remember.


These pictures were taken on Lizzy's trip to Coney Island. The little boys are following the Rabbi like baby ducks following their mother. Too cute. I wasn't going to add a title, but now I'm thinking, "Quack, quack, waddle, waddle." Nobody seems to notice them, but I think I would have been like Lizzy and taken a picture. We don't see a scene like this around here ever. I loved how colorful things looked behind the wall so I used colorful paper - I think from Scarlet Lime, but maybe some SC in there as well.


Yesterday I filled my cart with Stampin Up paper and sorted it into kits in between serving customers at the store. Today I pulled one out and put this together. Someone did something like this - I think in the OSU gallery - and I loved the idea of the long strips over the background circle. Journaling cards behind the photos, flower and flair from a recent Peachy Cheap deal (or possibly Flowers to Flourishes) and beads from Missus Wookie (almost gone!). Ribbon is SU, button Basic Gray. LOAD 2-5

More LOs for the LOAD challenge. Scrapped a couple of photos for Lizzy and my pictures from the fair.

I used the Men In Black DVD cover for inspiration here. Love this photo of the guys sitting on the log. The beads were a RAK from Missus Wookie.


Lizzy finds some silly things to photograph - like this little sign in the shop window. Used my new glitter Thickers here.


Someone mentioned something about printing photo collages at Costco so I tried it with my fair pictures. I kept the horse photos mostly intact, but cut the alligator photos all apart. It was fun having the odd sizes. Using ephemera finished this LO but I found a great transparency from a Peachy Cheap purchase and added some SU corduroy buttons and a small piece of ribbon.


The alligator pictures. Very simple. What more can I say?

At Random

Honestly, is there anything more comfy than a snuggly cat? We are still in the process of redecorating, a very slow-going project, but Smudge finds a place to nestle in spite of the mess.


My sister, Annette, and I have been swapping buttons back and forth through the mail. It is so fun to get a package of buttons to sort through and look at. What is it about a button? Here is a sample of my collection along with a pretty button ornament Annette made just for fun.


The little kids love to play outside. The long summer days leave plenty of time to run around and have fun. This day they tossed frisbees, played on the swings, chased the cat and had a grand time.


Our Department recently hosted a Girls State visitor. She was my responsibility for the day and to make it fun for her I made a little autograph book so she could collect signatures from everyone she met. Here she is with the Director and a select few for lunch. She was a bright young woman and everyone enjoyed sharing their day with her.



And finally, we just received three picture CDs from Lizzy! I looked through the lot of them and picked out a "few" to start scrapping. - - I'll be a while!

Button, Button

A friend from work gave me a big bag of buttons yesterday. Some of these belonged to her grandmother and aunt who, if they were alive, would be 100 years old by now. Here is a sampling of what I found in the various tins and bags. (Rummaged through it at my desk - couldn't resist!)


My friend, Jane, is a button collector. She belongs to a button club and decorates her home with buttons. Sounds quirky but her collection is really fun to look at and her home is adorable. I'm sure she will be able to enlighten me about this new stash and maybe even find something here she would like to keep.

I don't collect buttons the way Jane does. I just like buttons. I found some pretty jars and will begin to sort through all my buttons and put them on display in my craft room. I've already found a bunch I will be using to scrap with.
