Toy Storage

My niece is trying to figure out how to store her one-year-old's toys.
She asked to see photos of what I do in my home. Here they are:

Toys tucked away neat and tidy. This little cupboard was made by my dad when my oldest was about five. We painted it to match the family room when we moved it in here to store toys for the grandkids.

Inside the cupboard. Toy dishes behind the plexiglass doors. These get played with the most. In the lower cupboard are bins holding toys with lots of parts. Knowing what needed to be stored in here, I  measured the space and then went shopping. These clear bins are actually flour containers. On the bookshelf are baskets for books, coloring books, puzzles in boxes and paper to draw on. The big, blue bin on the bottom shelf is full of cars and trucks. The 'road' is folded on top of the bin. The kids have learned to take one toy at a time and put them away by themselves. See the green toy on the floor? What you can't see in this picture is actual children putting toys away!

Across the room we have two shelf units with doors in the bottom.

One shelf has all the kids' books, the cupboard has toys in bins - and a lunch box.

The other cupboard is filled with puppets.
The secret to organization is having a place for everything.

Good luck Kari!
